Mega Update Part 4- Random Yantai Shenanigans

So to mix things up a bit, i thought i would take a break from holiday pictures and post some of random Yantai life. Back in april we had a couple days off from class for sports days. all the different majors had students participate in games. Nate and Adam signed up to represent the Foreign Language department in a 5 K race. The first day the had the opening ceremonies...just like a little mini Olympics. Each group marched in and Nate was the flag barrier for his group....he is the tallest after all.

Nate looking like a bored little flag boy

THE BIG RACE!!!
Nate and Adam bought hysterical matching shirts that were waaaay too small...but amazing.

Me and Maggie cheering the boys on.

After the race....i can't remember what place they actually came in.

Stretching those legs after the race.

A couple weeks ago the weather got really nice so some of my students organized a picnic on the beach. it was loads of fun to hang out on the beach with them.

Getting ready to cook on the beach

Last friday me, nate, adam, jess, and a korean friend of ours that we have affectionatly nicknamed Wicket went to the beach. it was a blast!!
Nate and Wicket

It's not a proper day at the beach unless someone gets buried in the sand.

This last group is just randomness

I was at the bus station the other day and they had a big poster all about AIDS and HIV awareness. Apparently HIV's physical manifestation is a mischievous pumpkin.
You'll probably ahve to click this one to make it big so you can see clearly....but this is an AWESOME shirt i juts got. It's Joseph Stalin wearing mickey mouse ears...holding a teddy bear and a mickey mouse balloon.

This one is for all the sculpture kids and Phoebe!! I think of Phoebe, my sculpture proff who taught me to weld, every time i see stuff like this. Welding in china is done outside on the streets with no mask....gloves...or other safety precautions. i'm only about 5 feet from them.
the best is when they're up high doing welding on buildings and the sparks fall down but there is no roped off area so people are walking right under them.

Some Olympic mascots...and a really cool street performer. this is one guy walking on his hands and feet to make it look like 2 creatures fighting.

Every time i pass this restaurant this little dog is sitting outside.
That's right....Yantai's Tiffany & Co. ;P

This is just daily life in Yantai. While walking to lunch Nate and i happened to see these guy climbing the telephone pole. Everyday i see something ridiculous like this. How could
I leave china after just one year??? seriously.
I thought this was funny. the windshield is only being held on by tape. Nice.

Mega Update Part 3- More Beijing

Downtown Beijing...
Worst job in China
Flower mobile which was a traveling restaurant

Me and the Boys on our way to the Summer Palace...on the shadiest little boat ever.

I'm usually no one for wandering around scenic spots....i just don't have the attention span for it... BUT the Summer Palace was gorgeous!
Nuna and Nate-ah PingLots of walking and climbing. At the end of the day i was a very sleepy Nuna.

Nate and Adam have never been to see the Great Wall, so we took a day trip through our hostel.
this area of the Great Wall was MUCH steeper then the area i had been to before.
Another heart-shaped mao necklace i bought.....i was asking Mao and the China Gods for the strength to keep on climbing...
It was mucho hot...and mucho steep.

After the exhausting climb....this is how we got back down!

Hooray for zip lines off the Great Wall!!!

Then we were picked up by this boat and headed off to lunch.

This was a random kid we met from north carolina

After a long hard day we were very tired cranky pandas.

Next time....one more round of Beijing Pics.
