more pictures for the people

The past couple days, me and another of the teachers, Dale, have been going for long walks along the beach and in the area just to kind of explore. I love to go walking by the beach because it's always so nice by the water but i have no intentions of actually swimming any time soon. There is soo much garbage in the water. It doesn't seem to bother them one bit, but i unfortunetly would not be able to get past it. Plus there are loads of jelly fish. it's really amazing to watch them in the water....but after run ins with them as a child, i have to admit i'm a wimp about getting into water filled with them. But don't get me wrong, i really love going down there, but i think i'll stick to just walking and not swimming. one funny thing is there are abandoned shoes ALL OVER the beach, especially at night. it's almost as if groups of them juts walk into the sea and never come back and eventually their shoes wash up on shore.

The one day Dale and i went on quite a long walk and ended up at a "water park" where there is a giant mirrored ball that is an observation deck. the view was gorgeous, especially since we were there close to sun down. i thought about my mom alot and how much she would have loved being by the water and the amazing view. but enough of me rambling on....here is what you people really come to this blog for...the pictures.

The beach is actually right across the street from the campus area. one of my favorite parts of going down there is seeing all the boats
This is how they get the boats into the water
As Dale and i were walking we past a hysterical group of boys burying one of their friends in the sand. they even put a stick in an empty bottle so he could have a tail.
Like i said....there's a good bit of trash along the shore in the water.
Fisherman Dale Makes a catch.
Night time
On one of our walks we past this adorable sign....this was as close as i could get to it...so make sure you click to make this bigger..but it says Grass has life too. Please be kind to them.in Yantai, traffic lights aren't just three plain lights...it's actually counts down how much time you have to go or to wait in red and green. i thought it was kind of cool.

the humidity fogged up my lens and i didn't know it so this next round of pics are kind of crapped up.
Today a few of us went downtown to do a bit of shopping. jess and I got s some cute new clothes.....and some school supplies too ; ) i'm so tired from walking around all day...but it's definitly the good statisfied kind of tired.

Directly across from my room is a locked door...and on that door is a sign....and on that sign is written " foreign guest playroom" this door is driving me crazy!!! i want to know what could possibly be in the "play room" i mean come on.....i'm foreign...and a guest. This room should be mine to play in!!! i decided that misery loves company and showed the door to Dale and now we're both dying to know what's behind it.

Hopefully i'll get a pic of Jess and some of the other people here soon!

for some reason i can't stop listening to violent femmes today....

Although the new flaming lips is still my walking around china music.

You should collect washed-up shoes for a sculpture. :)

I agree with Elizabeth. Collect dem shoes!
The beach looks like a great place there, but it also looks cold. I'm going to guess it's not, since there are people running around in swimsuits and all that jazz.

Let us know if and when you find out what the play room is. I'm curious too.

I talked to your parents today, and I'm jealous that they got to talk to you on the phone. But totally understand that they have priority. ;)

I'm eager to hear about how your teaching starts off!!
